Black River Athletics Presents MLSGo Programming in the Wayne Area

MLS GO: A Youth Soccer Program Description

MLS GO is Major League Soccer's official recreational youth soccer program, created with the mission of making the sport more accessible and inclusive for children across North America. The program offered in the Wayne Area is designed to be a fun, affordable, and local experience for boys and girls, ages 4 to 9, regardless of their skill level or background. It serves as an entry point for young players to learn the fundamentals of soccer and develop a lasting love for the game.

A Professional, Elevated Experience: While it's a recreational league, MLS GO aims to provide an elevated and authentic soccer experience. Players receive official MLS-branded uniforms, often styled after a specific professional team, which creates an exciting connection to the league.

  1. Structured Development: The program provides a structured and developmental environment. Coaches, including both professionals and parent volunteers, are given access to an MLS-crafted curriculum and resources (often through the MOJO app) to ensure practices are age-appropriate, fun, and focused on skill-building.

  2. Emphasis on Fun and Inclusivity: The leagues have a "no-cut" policy, ensuring every child who registers has a spot. The rules and guidelines are centered on teaching basic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a safe, low-pressure environment. MLS GO is open to players of all levels, from first-time participants to those with some recreational experience.

  3. Connection to a Pathway: For some players, MLS GO can serve as the first step in a developmental pathway that could lead to more competitive opportunities, such as the MLS NEXT elite academy system. However, the primary focus remains on the recreational experience and fostering a love for the game for all participants.
